OAC Recommender Grants for Theatre Artists
Recommender Grants for Theatre Artists is an Ontario Arts Council Program. The purpose is to assist theatre creators to develop new work.
This is a third-party recommender program. Using Nova, OAC’s online grant application system, theatre creators apply to theatre companies designated as recommenders for the program (a maximum of ten applications per year). These recommenders assess applications and submit grant recommendations to OAC.
Suitcase in Point is proud to be a part of this program as a recommender. Artists interested in applying for this program are asked to familiarize themselves with the kind of work we do and the artists we engage. Preference will be given to applications that fulfill our mandate.
This is an opportunity for the creator to work on a first draft or a project in its early phases of development. If the applicant is a collective, the grant allows for initial collaboration and exploration.
Suitcase in Point priorities include: new collaborative processes, multi-media, satire and the work of regional, BIPOC and 2SLGBTQ++ artists.
An Artistic Committee, made up of the Artistic Director and Artistic Associates will review submissions.
How to Apply
Applications for Recommender Grants for Theatre Artists are to be submitted through Nova, OAC’s online granting system and funding decisions are made by Suitcase in Point.
