The 2023-2024 Nest Artist Residency

Do you harbour an uncontainable passion? Is your creativity bursting at the seams, yearning to be heard, seen, and felt? Whether you're a young artist, an old soul, or somewhere in between, if you’re a self-proclaimed emerging artist and have a profound idea that's been itching to break free, the 2023-24 Nest Artist Residency is made for you.

Nest Artist Residents will join us in answering the call of the Renaissance, a beacon of hope amidst the turbulent seas of our time. In an era where challenges loom large and uncertainty casts its shadow, we dare you to breathe life into your dreams. When the world seems dark and daunting, that's when the spark of revival ignites.

Here at Suitcase in Point, we believe that the architects of this revival are none other than artists like YOU. Your words, your melodies, your visions—they hold the power to ignite change, spark conversations, and nurture dreams. It's not just a journey; it's a movement fueled by courage, resilience, vulnerability, boundless curiosity, and, above all, love.

Don't merely watch the world change; be the catalyst that transforms it. Join us in this artistic odyssey and become a part of the REVIVAL, because the world needs artists like you to lead the way.

About the Residency

The Nest Artist Residency seeks to deepen the artistic relationship between local new generation artists and the broader artistic community. The goal of this residency is rooted in process, with a focus on risk taking, mistake-making, embracing failure as a step toward greatness, and exploring new ways of artistic expression that starts by asking ‘What do you need?’.

The Nest is an opportunity for directors, dramaturgs, playwrights, poets, dancers, musicians, divisors, and artist creators of all kinds looking for the space and mentorship to cultivate ideas into works that are provocative, innovative, and ambitious.

Residency in the Nest involves a public presentation at In the Soil Arts Festival 2024 that showcases the work-in-progress that residents create over an 8-month period. We encourage individuals, duos and collectives to apply to the residency. If you have an idea, we want to hear from you! The Nest Artist Residency will be offered with a hybrid of in-person and digital commitments in adherence with all public health guidelines.

The Nest Artist Residency period: November 8, 2023 – June 30, 2024
