Explore the historical art of blueprinting! Using cyanotype chemistry and the power of the sun, participants will learn how to create unique photogram solar prints to take home.
Solar printing with cyanotype chemistry, or blue-printing, involves hands-on manipulation of chemistry coated paper to create images in a rich blue hue. Allowing participants to experiment with different objects, arrangements, and compositions to create unique visual results through scientific art exploration first invented in the 1840s.
Explore and choose from a variety of objects, arrange them on a piece of chemistry-coated paper and expose to the sun. After 15m, the sun will have bleached out areas of the paper not hidden by the objects chosen. A quick bath with stop the exposure and rinse away chemistry, leaving an interesting blue image to take home with you.
