Emerging artists residents and their mentors unite in a provocative discussion around the value of building relationships and breaking barriers in the arts.
Suitcase in Point is proud to be showcasing new work developed by participants in our arts mentorship programs as part of the 16th annual In the Soil Arts Festival.
We invite you to attend and participate in a special roundtable discussion all about the impact and importance of mentorship and relationships between emerging and established artists in our communities.
This discussion will be moderated by Suitcase in Point’s Arts Mentorship Program Director, Sodienye Waboso Amajor and we have invited all of the emerging artist and youth participants from The Nest Artist Residency, Electric Innovations Youth Theatre Program and Black Girl Improv to participate in the conversation as well.
During this time together we will have an opportunity to share ideas, thoughts, experiences and provocations on the impact of artist mentorship like: How do connections between emerging and established artists help change or make intergenerational pathways? How do connections with young artists inspire you? How do you see the ecology of creation changing or how should it look moving forward? What barriers exist in our various creative communities and how can they be dismantled? Are there any specific outcomes, challenges, connections, inspirations that have come from your experience working with young artists in our programs this year? All in all, we hope to promote dialogue that feels fruitful, joyful and equal.

10:30am-11:30am - Roundtable Discussion
