Roselyn is a woman of colour, a survivor, a daughter of an immigrant mother, and a filmmaker. She creates stories of bold women of colour as modelled by the women that she loves. As an Egyptian-Canadian, she explores how women go through trauma to come into their power. She works to inspire and encourage women because she believes we are resilient when we are loved and love others. Her heart and body have broken more ways than she has ever imagined, and she built resilience through the hits. She is grateful to have won major awards at international film festivals with her shorts.
Through art, she asks, how do we heal? We need regeneration. Visceral, sensual experiences rewire the limbic system and allow us to come out of sleep. They allow us to heal and nourish hope.
At our best, we are all kintsugi vases. Roselyn’s art lives in convoluted journeys, through the mess, to the love that helps us grow into our most powerful selves. She makes art to navigate that.
