Biographies have always been hard for Destiny to write because she never quite knew how to describe herself. Because to some, she is a future. To others, a basketball player—maybe even both. But in her own mind, the word that fits now is "artist". It was not always that way. Growing up, Destiny sang, danced, crafted, and created simply for fun, never believing those hobbies made her an artist. Over time, she realized art was never just about mastering one craft or creating something perfect, but also about the way people move through, experience, and shape everyday life. "There is an art to everything," she says—and to Destiny, her art is about seeing the art in everything.
The piece she will be sharing is called I’ve Been Given the Floor. In this open-monologue/conversation-style performance, Destiny will explore how the piece came to be, reflect on the highlight of her month of May, and invite the audience into a performance that is personal, unpredictable, and fun.
