Shannon Kitchings

Shannon Kitchings (she/they) is a multi-disciplinary artist working in St Catharines in Southern Ontario, Canada. She uses performance, literary arts, and somatic practice to bridge distances between people who come from different backgrounds, and have different comfort levels creating art. Her research in voice and trauma has inspired her to explore the ways everyone, regardless of artistic training or experience, can communicate complex subject matter through the arts. This exploration is founded in embodiment. Shannon is the Poet Laureate for St Catharines Ontario for 2026.

For May's Scratch Night, Shannon will share an excerpt from a larger work-in-progress exploring connection to place and home through understanding of mythology and nature. What makes a place a home? And how do you recognize it if you have been away for a very long time? Or maybe more importantly, how does home recognize you?

The play includes audience participation. Don't be afraid. (Or be afraid. You choose. Don't let me tell you how to feel.) Enjoy the show.
